Magali, the founder of Rose et Marius, keeps the scent of flowers from her childhood in Provence at the home of her grandmother, Rose. That’s how she created Rose et Marius 12 years ago, to share her olfactory memories with you, using the finest materials from the Haute Parfumerie de Provence. But did you know that behind every flower lies a story and a meaning? Here are a few of our favorites:

Flowers from Provence bring a wealth of meaning and emotion to perfumery. They capture the essence of this sunny, colorful region, offering unique and profound olfactory experiences. Each Provençal flower tells a story and adds an emotional dimension to fragrance creations.

Lavender

Lavender is probably the most emblematic flower of Provence. Also known as the blue gold of Provence, it symbolizes tranquility, serenity and purity. In perfumery, lavender is often used for its soothing, relaxing properties, providing an herbaceous, floral and slightly camphorated note. It evokes the softness of lavender fields under the Mediterranean sun.

You’ll find it in our Home Spray and pillow mist. Based on lavender, sage and chamomile.  As elegant as it is relaxing, we bet you won’t be able to live without it!

Rose

The rose, particularly the centifolia rose from Grasse, is a universal symbol of love and passion. In Provence, the rose is also associated with beauty and elegance. Rose-based fragrances are often rich, lush and deeply feminine, capturing the essence of romance and sophistication.

Mimosa

Mimosa is a sunny, luminous flower, often associated with joy, optimism and renewal. Its powdery, soft, slightly sweet fragrance recalls the first days of the year in Provence, as it illuminates winter with its golden pompons. In perfumery, mimosa is used to create compositions that are both delicate and invigoratingly powdery.

At Rose et Marius, we offer custom perfume creation workshops; in the eau de parfum workshop, we’ve sourced a wonderful mimosa for you to use in your custom compositions. To book an appointment, click here!

Jasmine

Jasmine, grown in the famous fields of Grasse, is a symbol of sensuality and mystery. Its intense, sweet and exotic fragrance is often used in perfume compositions to add a touch of sophistication and depth. Jasmine evokes warm, intoxicating summer nights.

Orange Blossom

Orange blossom is synonymous with purity, innocence and happiness. Its fresh, floral and slightly fruity fragrance is often used in perfumes to evoke sensations of freshness and lightness. It recalls orange orchards in bloom and gentle spring breezes. It’s also the scent of childhood: orange blossom water is used in Provence to soothe children.

Bergamot

This amazing citrus comes from Italy, it  symbolizes joy, light and energy. Its fresh, lemony, slightly floral fragrance is often used as a top note in perfume compositions, bringing a bright, invigorating opening.Bergamot evokes the freshness of sunny mornings and citrus gardens.

In love with flowers

The flowers of Provence, beyond their simple visual appeal, possess a deep cultural and emotional richness that makes them famous far beyond the borders of this sunny region in the south of France. Their use in perfumery is steeped in ancient traditions and craftsmanship, where each flower, leaf and essence is meticulously selected for its unique aromatic qualities and the emotions it evokes. At the heart of this olfactory heritage, Rose et Marius stands out as a Haute Parfumerie de Provence brand, renowned for its ability to capture the very essence of these emblematic flowers in exceptional fragrance creations. Each fragrance is an invitation to a sensory journey through fragrant lavender fields, lemon orchards and rose gardens, where the air is infused with the sweetness of flowers and the intensity of their aromas. Drawing on this floral abundance, Rose et Marius creates fragrances that transcend the simple olfactory aspect to become veritable olfactory works of art. Each bottle is the fruit of a perfect marriage between tradition and innovation, offering elegant, sophisticated compositions that capture the sun-drenched, intoxicating soul of Provence.
